Homework

Homework has an important role in supporting and consolidating pupils' learning and providing opportunities for pupils to extend and deepen their thinking through imaginative open ended activities. We use a grid approach to homework that includes homework choices linked to all curriculum subjects. Children also complete math, reading and spelling homework to support their learning in these areas.

Children's homework grids are available to view on their class curriculum overview page.

Homework in Reception

  • Children choose a homework task to complete each week
  • When a task has been completed the box can be coloured in to show it has been completed.
  • Homework should be returned on a Wednesday and new homework will be issued on a Friday.

Homework in KS1

  • In KS1 homework will follow a 2 weekly cycle alternating between grid and math homework.
  • When homework has been completed the box can be coloured in to show it has been completed.
  • Homework should be written in pencil (at least one sentence including capital letters, full stops, gaps                  between words and spelling using phonics as much as possible)
  • Pictures can also be drawn using pencil crayons or photographs can be stuck in the homework books.
  • All math homework should be completed in the purple homework books not in the text books.
  • Homework should be returned on a Wednesday and new homework will be issued on a Friday.
