The Askwith School Eco-committee is committed to looking after the environment and being a positive change in the world around us.

The committee meets every half term the minutes of each meeting will be published on this page and on the school Eco-committee display board in Cedar Hall.

Meeting 2: Friday 15th October 2021

In attendance:

  • Class representatives from all classes
  • Mrs Nayler (headteacher)
  • Mrs Timiney

The Eco-Committee decided that the upcoming Climate Change Conference that is to be held in Glasgow is a very important event and that all children at Askwith should know about it and we should show our support.

The Eco-Committee decided that all children should decorate a green heart, which will then be put up around school to show our support of the Climate Change Conference.

Next week, all members of the Eco-Committee will present an assembly to the school explaining the importance of the Climate Change Conference.

Meeting 1: Wednesday 29th September 2021

In attendance:

  • Class representatives from all classes
  • Mrs Nayler (headteacher)
  • Mrs Timiney

The children agreed that the focus for this half term would be to ensure all paper is being recycled in the waste paper bins in every classroom.

In addition to this, the representatives agreed it was important to waste less water so they would monitor the taps around school to ensure they are turned off when not in use. The representatives will also encourage all members of their classes to turn off all taps fully when they have finished using them.
