Welcome to Askwith Primary School

About Us

A warm welcome to all visiting our website.

We are a village school near Otley and Ilkley with a calm, caring and family ethos. We strive for our pupils to be happy, healthy and confident learners who are enthusiastic and hard-working.

Our pupils show care and concern for each other and achieve high standards. Not surprisingly, our school has been consistently judged ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED.

We are a lead National Teaching School with a strong focus on developing effective teaching methods that best meet all of our pupils’ needs.

We believe that our school should be an environment in which all parents, staff and governors can work together to create a safe, well- structured learning culture which promotes a mentally and physically healthy lifestyle.

We are totally committed to continually improving teaching and learning across a broad and balanced curriculum; fostering our pupils’ personal development and love of learning is our passion and in recognition of our long term success we became one of the first cohort of National Teaching Schools in September 2011.

On the 1st August 2015, Askwith School converted to an academy and was one of the three founding members of Yorkshire Collaborative Academy Trust (YCAT) with Harrogate Bilton Grange Primary School and Lothersdale Primary School. Further details are provided on the YCAT website.

The success of our school is a result of the strong partnership between pupils, teachers, parents, governors and the local community.
