Thank you to all who came along to the PTA AGM. The events of 2024-2025 were reviewed and all agreed it had been a very successful year with £4,200 being raised! Many thanks to all involved in raising such a large sum. Please see attached an updated copy of the ‘Dates for your Dairy’ for this half term, now including PTA event dates. The first PTA event of the year is an Afternoon Tea Party on Monday 22nd September 3.15-4.30pm in Askwith Village Hall. Do come along to say hello, have a cuppa and a cake! This is a great way to get to know other parents if you are new to the school.
Liz Ward, who has been chair of the PTA for 3 years, stepped down at the end of last term. We are very grateful for all the time and enthusiasm Liz put into this role. We are now looking for a new chair. If you are interested please either email askwith@ycatschools.co.uk or have a chat with myself.
A reminder to all parents of children in years Reception to year 6 about the nasal flu vaccinations taking place in school on Wednesday 17th September. Please see attached a further copy of the letter and leaflet. Please click on the link on the leaflet to either give or decline your consent before 17th September.
The first of our curriculum events for parents is the Phonics and Reading information event on Tuesday 30th September for parents of children in years reception to 6. This will take place at 3.45pm in the school hall or at 6.30pm online. No need to book. This event will inform parents how phonics and reading are taught throughout the school.
Following that, there will be a Curriculum Information Evening for all parents on Thursday 9th October and a ‘Come and Read’ event for parents of children in years Reception, 1 and 2 on Friday 10th October. Further information about these events will be provided nearer the time.
A letter is attached for parents of year 6 children about applying for a secondary school place. Applications for September 2026 are open from tomorrow and close 31st October.
*Important—If you have not been receiving text messages this term, please inform Mrs Bentley. From the comms system, we can see that four parents are not receiving texts but we don’t know who. It is important that we have up to date phone numbers in case your child becomes ill or there is adverse weather.
