12th June 2025

This morning, the children thoroughly enjoyed our annual sports day event. We are so proud of how they supported their friends racing, whilst also waiting patiently and quietly until the next race. PE sessions and playtimes have been spent practising hard for this, in particular how to balance a bean bag on their head and the correct way to pass a baton. The relay races were run in their Sports Houses: Brownlee, Deignan, Ennis-Hill and Root. The weather was perfect and the parents also had the opportunity to compete in a sack race! Thank you to the PTA for providing refreshments beforehand and a drink and biscuit afterwards for the children.
Tomorrow, the children in years 3,4,5 and 6, together with other schools from the Harrogate area, will be taking part in the Brownlee Mini-Triathlon. This a non-competitive event where the children will swim, cycle and run. A reminder to parents that the children need to be in school no later than 8.30am wearing their swimwear, PE kit, socks and trainers.
Next Thursday, 19th June, Reception, Years 1 and 2 are going on their school trip to Grass Woods in Grassington. They will be building shelters, identifying geological features and creating artwork.
Otley Carnival is on Saturday 21st June and our school theme is The River Wharfe. The Carnival Committee have started preparing for this and are in school on Friday afternoon to start craft activities with the children who will be in the parade.
The PTA summer walk and barbeque takes place on Friday 4th July. As Mrs Nayler mentioned at the end of Sports Day, we urgently need volunteers to help with this. If you can spare a few hours,
please think about volunteering to make this a fun and enjoyable end of term event for everyone.
Well done to everyone who has already started growing their £ in the ‘Grow a £1 Challenge’. We have seen a variety of ideas from bun sales to blind bag sales. If you need any events advertising, please let school know and we can send out a text.
If you wish to purchase a class photograph taken by Tempest Photography, a reminder to place orders online by Wednesday 18th June, for free delivery back to school. A sample of the class photograph was sent home last week together with instructions of how to place an order.
