1st May 2025

As notified on Monday, we will no longer be taking part in the Ilkley Carnival Parade. However, we are still hoping to have sufficient numbers of families walking and grown ups to volunteer to help make the Otley Carnival Parade (Saturday 21st June) a success. If you would like to be involved walking in the parade or helping, please email askwith@ycatschools.co.uk with the information requested on the attached letter. A decision will be made tomorrow.
We are pleased to announce that some of our children have been successful in the Otley Carnival Poster competition! Well done to Menna, who won the age 7-9 category, Esther, who was runner up in the age 7-9 category, and Sophie who won the age 10+ category!
Next week, some of the children, who have been attending the after school drama club on Tuesdays, are taking part in the Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts, at the Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley. Good luck children! Due to the competition, there will be no drama club after school on Tuesday 6th May, but the craftsand puzzles club will still be running.
Whilst we are enjoying this lovely sunny weather, please can I remind parents of our procedures about sun cream. If the weather is due to be sunny, we expect all children to come to school with sun cream already applied. Named bottles of sun cream should be brought into school in the summer term (to be kept in the
classroom). Children in years 1-6 will be supervised whilst re-applying their own sun cream and a member of staff will re-apply sun cream for children in nursery and reception, if we have the appropriate consent from parents. If we think a child does not have sun cream on, or has no sun cream in school, we will keep them in
the shade /inside if the weather is very sunny. Sun hats also recommended for all children. Thank you for your co-operation. In addition, whilst sandals are permitted, they must fasten on, no flip flops or slip on shoes please.
Cutlery amnesty! – If your child has a packed lunch and may sometimes borrow school cutlery that may accidently go home, please can this be returned by the end of the week. Going forward, if your child has a packed lunch, please provide any required cutlery from home.
I hope you all have an enjoyable bank holiday Monday! School re-opens on Tuesday 6th May.
