26th June 2025

A very enjoyable day was had by all who joined us for a very sunny and warm Otley Carnival parade on Saturday. The PTA and school would like to say a big thank you to ‘the crafting team’ and to everyone who attended and supported them on the day helping to make it a great success. The children looked wonderful in their creations of fish, ducks, otters, swans and a boat.
On Monday, all children in school received age appropriate first aid training thanks to the funding provided by local charity ‘The Sarah Jackson Community Wish’. This was a very fun and hands on experience with KS1 practising CPR to the song ‘I like to move it, move it’, the recovery position and what number to call in an emergency both here and abroard. KS2 found it ‘amazing, helpful and educating’. They also learnt what to do if someone is choking, how to use a defibrillator and how important the what3words is.
Yesterday, it was lovely to see so many parents enjoying our Early Years and KS1 Creativity Exhibition. The children are very proud of the work they have been doing since September. The work displayed included storytelling collages, landscape painting, clay pots, moving mechanisms, fruit kebabs, weaving and the artwork from the carnival. If you were unable to attend, there will be photographs on the school website.
Don’t forget the KS2 Art Exhibition takes place next Wednesday, 2nd July. Here, our KS2 children can showcase their Art and DT they have been working on throughout the year. It will be held in the school hall from 3pm and everyone is welcome, bring along your friends and relatives.
Today, the children in year 6 have been to Crucial Crew in Harrogate. This series of workshops and demonstrations, led by the emergency services, were very informative and included fire safety, drug
awareness, the danger of electricity and trains and online safety.
Thankyou to all those who have started to send in the proceeds of their ‘Grow a £1 Challenge’. Please can all funds raised be handed into the office (in a named envelope) by 9am Wednesday 2nd July. If you haven’t ‘grown your £1’, please can this also be retuned by 9am Wednesday 2nd July. As per the texts sent out earlier
this week, we will be holding a ‘Grow a £1 market’ on Tuesday 1st July at 3.30pm. All stalls for this market have now been booked. Many thanks for all your support with this fund raising activity.
Please see attached further information about the PTA summer walk and barbeque. Paper copies have been sent home today. This is a lovely event for all the family and usually a very successful fund raiser. The funds raised by the PTA benefit every child in school and this year will, amongst other things, be put towards the cost of transport for the school trips and new laptops.
Thursday 17th July is an important date for parents of children in year 6. The leavers’ assembly and afternoon tea is an opportunity for them to reminisce with their son/daughter about their Askwith journey followed by tea and biscuits. Further details will be sent home soon.
