This morning, information was emailed out about the Parent Governor Election for Askwith Primary School Local Governing Body. The governors are a very supportive, integral part of our school community and are hugely valued.
Tomorrow is a busy day! – We will be raising funds for Children in Need by holding a cake/tray bake /bun sale. Bought or homemade items can be brought into school in the morning and will be sold at break times and after school. Suggested donation 50p per item. If you send in home baking, please do not use nuts, peanuts or Nutella and please enclose a list of ingredients. Any left over cake will be sold after school.
This week is also Anti-Bullying week, to raise awareness, children are invited to wear odd socks tomorrow.
Finally, also tomorrow, parents of children in years 3,4,5 and 6 are invited to do ‘worksharing’. Parents may come into school between either 9.15-9.45am or 2.30-3.15pm and look at their children’s work in their books in
the school hall. If attending the afternoon session, children and any siblings may be taken home after worksharing.
A reminder that the after school Christmas Crafts club for children in Reception, years 1 and 2 commences on Monday (18th). If your child wishes to attend, please book through Parent Pay and select ‘after school club’ until 5pm.
Next Tuesday, 19th November, we are having an open day for families who may be interested in joining our nursery or school. We will be open to visitors from 2pm until 5pm. Please tell your friends and family who may be interested in Askwith Primary School. Parents of children currently in nursery, who may not have had a look around the whole school, are very welcome to come along.
Rehearsals for the Infant Nativity and KS2 Pantomime have commenced! The Infant Nativity performances are on Friday 6th December at 2pm and 6pm. The KS2 Pantomime dress rehearsal is on Thursday 12th December at 10.15am and the main performance is at 7pm on Friday 13th December. Letters about
rehearsals, performances, tickets and creche facilities will be sent out next week.
The Victorian Fayre in Otley takes place 12-6pm on Sunday 1st December. This year, the PTA will have a stall at the fayre to raise funds for outdoor equipment and school trips. See attached letter about a home clothes day on Friday 22nd November when parents are asked to donate items for the ‘Advent Calendar
Game.’ The PTA is currently a dedicated but small group of parents and more volunteers are needed to help with the stall. If you can volunteer for just 30 minutes it would be greatly appreciated. See attached letter.
A thank you from the office—Thankyou to all those who have been completing the surveys so promptly. They
are proving to be a very efficient way of collecting information from parents and from the take up, seem to be popular with parents too. Your co-operation is much appreciated. Paper versions are always available as an alternative, please just ask.
As we head towards winter, children in particular are prone to catching colds. To help you decide whether your child is too ill to attend school, please see attached some information from the NHS website about a range of common childhood conditions.
