Last Friday, the children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 travelled to Harrogate to take part in the Brownlee MiniTriathlon. This was a non-competitive fun event that gave the children the opportunity to experience all three parts of a triathlon. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the organisers commented on how well the children both listened and behaved.
On Wednesday, the children all joined a very informative on line lesson with Yorkshire Water to learn about ‘How to stay around lakes, rivers and the sea’. We will continue to recap what we have learnt in assemblies, particularly as summer is approaching and the weather is very warm.
Today, Reception, Years 1 and 2 have been on their school trip to Grass Woods in Grassington. They built shelters, identified geological features and created artwork.
Otley Carnival is this Saturday, 21st June Thank you to the PTA for organising a wonderful craft afternoon with the children. They made duck hats and giant fish to enhance their outfits. Please see attached for further details.
A huge congratulations to all the children who took part in the dance competition in March against schools across Harrogate. The Years 5 and 6 team ( Freya, Lucia, Katie, Poppy, Lilybeth, Menna and Sophie) were awarded with 2nd place and we will have certificates and a trophy to display in school. The Years 3 and 4 team ( Harriet, Mollie, Charlotte, Ella and Evie) were highly commended for their creativity and independent, mature attitude.
PACO First aid (working in partnership with an Otley charity, ‘The Sarah Jackson Community Wish’ ) will be visiting school on Monday to provide appropriate First Aid training to each year group . This is a fantastic, funded initiative that has been offered to all Otley schools.
Next Wednesday, 25th June, we will be holding our annual Early Years and KS1 Creativity Exhibition. This is an opportunity for the children to showcase their Art and DT ( Design Technology) work they have been creating all year. It will be held in the school hall from 3pm and everyone is welcome, bring along your friends and relatives!
The ‘Grow a £1 Challenge’: We have seen a variety of ideas from bun sales to ‘blind’ bag sales. If you need any events advertising, please let school know and we can send out a text. There is a limit of two sales in school per week.
