27th March 2025

The residential to Boggle Hole Youth Hostel in a very sunny Whitby last week was fantastic! The children enjoyed learning about fossils, the history of smuggling in the area, rock pooling, a pirate party, activities in the woods and toasting marshmallows on the fire. In addition, the accommodation was comfortable and the food was enjoyed by all. This was a new venue for our residential but we are hoping to re-book for March 2027. We were complemented on numerous occasions, by the Youth Hostel staff, the café owner and members of the public, about the exemplary behaviour of the children. Well done children!
Today, some of the children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been filmed as part of a North Yorkshire Sport Schools Spring Dance Competition. Good luck to all those who took part!
The Design Technology Challenge (for children in years Reception to 6) this year, is to design a speed awareness safety sign to remind drivers of speed limits past school. Tomorrow, children will bring home a template and guidance about what should be included. Your support in helping your child complete their design at home is greatly appreciated. All entries should please be brought into school on Thursday 3rd April for judging. There will be a prize for first, second and third in each year group.
Please see attached a letter about the Ilkley and Otley carnival parades (paper copies being sent home tomorow). If you would like to take part in either or both parades, please return the letter or email the requested information to admin@askwith.n-yorks.sch.uk by Friday 4th April. Donations towards the resources for the headdresses and props would be greatly appreciated by the PTA.
As the weather is now warming up, children are increasingly taking their jumpers and cardigans off during the day. To help reunite your child with the clothes you have bought for them, please ensure anything they may take off during the day is named.
If any families have children who will turn 3 years old next school year and are interested in a nursery place, please request a registration form from the office. Our nursery is increasingly popular and only a few places remain for next academic year (2025-2026).
A reminder that we close for the Easter holiday at 2pm on Friday 4th April. School re-opens for the children
on Tuesday 22nd April.
