10th September 2026

I hope you all had an enjoyable summer break. Welcome to the new families who have joined Askwith Primary
School and nursery this week. Welcome also to Miss Revill who is the new class 3 teacher and Mrs Pafrate
who has joined the school as a teaching assistant.
There is a lot of information and reminders in this edition which I hope you will find useful.
Please see attached a further copy of the event dates (slightly updated) and the clubs taking place this half
term. Please note the ‘Meet the Teacher’ events happening in weeks 2 and 3. We hope an adult for every
child will be able to attend. A letter about the baking club was sent out earlier today. Baking club will
commence on Monday 21st September and places must be booked with Mrs Timiney via the paper return slip.
Please book all after school clubs through the clubs module in Parent Pay under ‘after school club.’
Please also find attached a copy of term dates for this academic year (2026-2027) and for next year (2027
2028). A reminder that children of compulsory school age should not be taken out of school during term time
for holidays except in exceptional circumstances. I am happy to give guidance on this matter.
A reminder about drop off and pick up times. If you have children in both groups, please drop off at the
earlier time and collect at the later time. If a friend or relative is collecting your children for you, please
inform the office in advance to ask for the password. If you have a standing arrangement with another parent
to collect each other’s children, please reconfirm with the school office for this year.
N, R, 1 & 2 Drop off = 8.30-8.45am Pick up = 3.15-3.30pm
3, 4, 5 & 6 Drop off = 8.45-9.00am Pick up = 3.30-3.45pm
If your child is ever unable to attend school or nursery due to illness or an appointment, please inform the
office via telephone message or email by 9am giving your child’s name and the reason for absence.
Please can children have PE kits (including trainers or pumps to change into) in school every day. Nursery
children do not need a PE kit. All children also need a named water bottle every day. In addition, please
ensure that all items of uniform are named. This helps greatly on PE days!
Children in nursery, reception, years 1 and 2 are provided with a healthy snack at break times. We encourage
other children to also bring in healthy snacks. No crisps, sweets or chocolate please. On a safety matter, if
sending grapes into school, please ensure they are cut lengthwise as they can be a choking hazard. Finally, a
reminder that we are a nut free school. No nuts of any variety or products containing nuts as snacks or in
packed lunches. If you are unsure, please contact Mrs Timiney, ntiminey.askwith@ycatschools.co.uk.
Miss Brierley is completing her Ultra Marathon in the Lake District on Saturday to raise money for outdoor
learning at our school. To track her progress, you can follow using this link https://live.opentracking.co.uk/lapac26/
Her number is 151 and you can search for her name ‘Olivia Brierley’. If you would still like to donate, here is
