On Tuesday, the children in years 3 and 4 went on their class trip to Thackray Medical Museum.
They participated in a workshop about the human body and then explored the museum, finding out about health in Victorian times and how we stay healthy today. Staff at the museum commented on how well behaved and engaged the children were.
Yesterday, we held our whole school careers afternoon. We had some really inspirational people visit us! The children talked to a lifeguard, a doctor, a dentist, a TT racer, a graffiti artist, a cyber safety expert, a gamekeeper, an ecologist and a plastic surgeon! We had a fantastic finale when Mr
Hutchinson started his motorbike engine! Thank you so much to all of the parents who gave their time and brought such interesting props!
Today, the children in year 6 have taken part in ‘Askwith Bake-Off’! Their creations are wonderful.
This was due to their planning and preparation. Please look at the website next week to see the groups in action. Well done all and a special well done to our winning cake: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory made by Harry, Menna and Hannah.
We are greatly looking forward to the Otley Carnival Parade on Saturday 20th June. Please meet at the Cattle Market at 11.30am. Items for the children in nursery, reception and year 1 will be waiting for them.
A reminder that Tuesday 23rd June is the KS2 Art Exhibition from 3pm. All parents and grandparents are invited to have a look at the children’s art work in the school hall. The first of the ‘Grow a Pound’ markets is taking place at the same time. Do please bring some change and browse the stalls! Thank you for your support.
Sports Day is planned for Thursday 25th June, weather permitting. A text will be sent out to confirm once we have checked the weather forecast It is due to start at 9.30am and will last approximately 1 hour. All children will be involved. The nursery children will take part in the first race then be taken back into their classroom. Please be aware that a couple of houses in Askwith are currently being refurbished resulting in lots of vans parking in the village.
