19th March 2026

On Monday, parents and grandparents of the children in years 1 and 2 were able to enjoy a 1 to 1 reading session with their child / grandchild and Mrs Timiney. We hope you found these sessions useful and able to further encourage a love of reading at home!

Tomorrow, we will be holding a cake sale to raise money for Red Nose Day. Any home made or bought cakes can be brought to the school hall in the morning and will be sold for 30p each; any left over will be sold in the playground at the end of the day. Whilst we request that items brought into school must not contain nuts / nut butters or Nutella, we cannot guarantee this. Please make us aware if your child has a nut allergy that you did not put on their registration form.

A reminder that snacks and packed lunches must not contain nuts, nut butters, Nutella or any other nut based products.

Following recent stories in the press, please be assured that we are an allergy aware school and staff have received anaphylaxis training.

The PTA will be hosting a ‘pre-loved’ uniform sale at the end of the day tomorrow. If you have any clean uniform that you would like to donate, it can be sent into school before that date. Alternatively, email Miss Wilson who helps the PTA on cwilson.askwith@ycatschools.co.uk with any specific unform requests. The Sue Knowles uniform order form is attached for those who wish to purchase new uniform items.

This year’s Design Technology Challenge is to design and make a nesting box (for either bats or birds). The finished nesting box should:

- Use sustainable materials - Be structurally sound

- Be environmentally friendly - Provide adequate shelter

Judging will take place on Thursday 26th March. Children will create an initial plan in school, which can be enhanced / improved at home during the making process. Good luck to all!

Well done to Katrina Wilson and Thomas Akers who have made it through to the cross country ‘league of leagues’ on 26th March. Good luck to you both!
