Our Classroom

Clay

Fire Service

The children have been learning how to manipulate the shape and surface of clay. They used play-doh to practice and then used what they have learnt to create pinched pots and tiles.

The children had a visit from the local fire service. They had the chance to explore a fire engine and ask lots of questions. Everyone learnt lots about fire safety.

Christmas

Computing

The children had a wonderful time creating lots of different Christmas crafts.

Remembrance

Mental Health Awareness

The children learnt all about why the Poppy is the symbol of remembrance.

Powerdown Pete

It is always important to take time out for your mental health. The children particularly enjoyed guided meditation this week.

Visit from a Poet

Powerdown Pete visited the class to teach us all how we can save energy and be more environmentally friendly.

Poetry in action!

Harvest Assembly - saving energy

Come and Read

Reception, Year 1 and 2 performed their Harvest Assembly to parents, grandparents and carers this week. They did a wonderful job and their singing was beautiful!

It was lovely to be able to invite the parents in to be a part of our phonics lessons.

Meeting Julia Donaldson

PE

The children in EYFS and KS1 had the pleasure of watching Julia Donaldson read her new book - The Baddies. During the Zoom call, Alex Scheffler showed the children the process behind drawing his unique and recognisable illustrations.

All of the children have been working very hard to improve their fitness. They have also been working very hard to improve their accuracy when throwing towards a target.

Reading

Design Technology

The children in Class 2 have enjoyed settling back into life at school and sharing books with one another, especially during 'reading for pleasure' time.

In Design and Technology, the children have been working very hard to learn how to sew using running stitch and how beads can be effectively joined to binca.
