Homework: COVID-19 Recovery

Homework has an important role in supporting and consolidating pupils' learning and providing opportunities for pupils to extend and deepen their thinking. It is very important that we do as much as possible to remediate the learning loss suffered by the missed months of schooling. Therefore, homework will support the recovery of learning lost during this period.

Homework in KS1 and KS2

· English and maths homework will be sent home each week

· Additional homework supporting other subjects may be sent home where or when required

· Homework will be a consolidation of work covered that week and will be suited to children’s individual needs

· Homework should be written in pencil

· Homework should be returned on a Wednesday and new homework will be issued on a Friday

· In addition, weekly spellings will be sent home on Friday and spelling tests take place on Wednesday

Homework in Reception

In reception, we use a grid approach to homework that includes homework choices linked to the early learning goals.

· Children choose a homework task to complete each week

· When a task has been completed the box can be coloured in to show it has been completed

· Homework should be returned on a Wednesday and new homework will be issued on a Friday
