Sports for Champions UK

The children enjoyed meeting Beverley Jones who won bronze, for discus throwing, at the Paralympic games in 2012. She put the children through their paces with carefully planned circuits and presented them with awards for their fundraising efforts. Well done children!

World Book Day 2022

The children enjoyed a Harry Potter themed World Book Day to mark 25 years since the publication of the first Harry Potter book. 

Design Technology

The children in Class 4 have been working hard to learn how to tie-dye using natural dyes...the end products are fabulous! One member of Year 6 even used her knowledge to create her World Book Day outfit!

Science - Shadows

Science - Light

The children investigated how shadows can change. 

Class 4 have been learning about how light travels. During this lesson, the children were proving that light travels in a straight line. 

PE - Dance

Peru Research

Class 4 have been enjoying their Dance unit in PE. They have been leading warm-ups using a range of moves to stretch different muscles in their bodies. 

Class 4 have been using the internet to research Peru. 

Christmas Pantomime - Beauty and the Beast

Water Safety

Class 4 had a wonderful time performing in the pantomime at The Clarke Foley Centre in Ilkley. They worked very hard during their rehearsals and it paid off! They were all fantastic! 

Yorkshire Water ran a Zoom call to show the children the importance of water safety.

COP26 - Zoom 

RE - The Bible

The children took part in a climate change event with North Yorkshire County Council. Everyone made a pledge to help tackle climate change. 

Class 4 have been reading the bible during RE. They explored the messages and morals within the stories in groups.

Sculpture Club

Class 4 had a great time listening to some inspiring stories with female engineers from the civil engineering company, Mott MacDonald Bentley. We discussed why civil engineers are important in our everyday lives and how it could be a very fulfilling career. 

Many of the children in Class 4 attended sculpture club after school during Autumn. 

Odd Socks

French - weather

The children wore odd socks to mark Anti-Bullying week.

Class 4 designed their own games to practise the weather in French. 

National Poetry Day - Tony Peek

PE - relays

To celebrate National Poetry Day, Tony Peek visited the school. He inspired the children in Class 4 to write and perform their own poems in a whole school assembly. 

The children in Class 4 have thoroughly enjoyed their PE lessons so far this half term. They have been mastering the techniques to pass the baton in a relay race and have been working very well as a team. 

European Day of Languages

Police Community Support Officer Visitor - Online safety

During European Day of Languages, the children in class 4 studied maps of Europe and they practised conversations in French. 

PCSO Phil discussed with the children how to stay safe online. 

Mini Medics

Staying mentally healthy

We had a visitor in school teaching the children how to perform first aid in an emergency and they are now all 'mini medics' Well done children!

The children in class 4 have taken part in yoga at playtimes, team building exercises and have created artwork to keep them mentally healthy.
